Carers Training
Renfrewshire Carers Centre Training Programme for Carers 2010
Renfrewshire Carers Centre is providing a programme of free training courses for carers, to help them in their caring roles. The Programme aims to offer unpaid carers opportunities to improve their ability and confidence in managing their caring situation - thus improving their own quality of life and that of the person they look after.
Our Training Worker is Louise Anderson and you can call her on 0141 847 1933 or email her louise@renfrewshirecarers.co.uk
The Training for Carers Project will provide learning opportunities for unpaid carers sessions on issues that are relevant to them in their caring role. The aim of the project will be to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of training for carers to support them in their caring role.
Courses will be aimed at carers who wish to gain further knowledge, skills or understanding on a specfic illness or condition, the services avaible to the carer and cared for and support or information.
Sessions will enable carers to build on their own expertise and gain further knowledge and confidence from health professionals and peer support. Courses will range from one half day to seven weekly sessions. They will address the different points along the 'carer journey' from the point at which caring begins to the time when caring comes to an end and will enable carers to identify and access additional support.
Research has found that training for carers improves their ability and confidence to manage themselves and their caring situation and thus improves their quality of life and that of those they care for.
