Relaxation Services
Therapeutic Services at the Carers Centre
Stress is a natural feeling of everyday life – we may experience it when we have to wait in a queue, when we are late for an appointment or when we burn the dinner! It is a well proven fact that carers can experience much higher levels of stress as a result of the pressures of their caring role. The Centre provides various services to help relieve the effects of carer stress.
Our Holistic Therapist, Molly Rooney will be providing aromatherapy, reflexology or indian head massage to carers from Thursday 21st January 2010. Please note that indivudual sessions are by appointment only. You can put your name on the waiting list by calling the Centre on 0141 887 3643.
The Centre manages the appointment system for Molly by allocating half the appointments to carers who have never before had a treatment and the other half to existing carers on a rotating waiting list. We try and offer immediate appointments for carers in crisis or who have been bereaved
Molly also holds a relaxation group on the last Thursday of every month and this will resume on Thursday 28th January 2010 at the Centre - no appointment is necessary. Attendance at the Group has increased recently and many new carers have experienced the benefits of meditation. Molly teaches the carers relaxation techniques that can then be used in the home.
We are also delighted to confirm that the Centre has also re-started stress management sessions for carers. Two new holistic therapists on placement from Cardonald College will be at the centre holding sessions until June 2010. Carers are offered courses of 5 sessions to help carers cope with their own stress in postive ways.
